Errors and Omissions Liability Insurance
In accordance with Section 7 (1)(l) of the Licensed Practical Nurses Act Regulations, all practical nurses in Prince Edward Island are required to provide evidence of professional liability insurance. Liability insurance protects the public by ensuring they have recourse in the event of an error or omission. For this reason, the Prince Edward Island Licensed Practical Nurses Registration Board purchases insurance on behalf of its members. The cost of this insurance is included in annual licence fees.
The documents below have been prepared by the insurance provider, Lloyd Sadd, to inform LPNs about their insurance coverage. These bulletins provide information on coverage that will take effect January 1, 2017. Any questions or requests for further information about the program should be directed to the insurance provider.
It is also important that LPNs be aware of the circumstances in which they require additional coverage. The following bulletin describes some of these circumstances.
LPNs who work in independent practice are advised to consult an insurance provider to determine what additional coverage is required.
